The Story Behind "Phoebe":
This print is named after three 'Phoebes' who have brought so much joy to my life! My Aunt Phoebe was this wonderfully interesting lady who I used to visit - on one hand she was quite reserved and quiet, but then she'd surprise everyone by getting her keyboard out and belting out tunes while singing away! I absolutely loved that contrast in her personality! Then there's Phoebe from Friends (one of my favourite TV shows!) who was so funny, quirky, colourful and full of life - her energy was simply infectious! And of course, my own little pup Phoebe who is just a bundle of energy and makes me smile every single day, while keeping me company in my studio daily!
When I painted this piece with its high contrast between the dark inky blues and bright corals, the loose brushstrokes against the fine line details, and those unusual quirky colour combinations that shouldn't work but somehow do... it just reminded me of all their beautiful energies!
